‘Stare Into Infinity’

In Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist, he uses the Arabic word “Maktub” in multiple scenarios to remind us, that we play a crucial role in writing our own destinies

The Portuguese phrase “A Luta Continua” which means the struggle continues was the rallying cry of the Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO) during its struggle for independence from the Portuguese

I constantly & intentionally bombard myself with perspective/consciousness expanding experiences aka always reading some novel books (pun totally intended!), engaging regularly with nature, with art, with artists, meditating, breathing in that good a$$ prana, & interacting with my fellow gods & goddesses of the cosmos

Beginner’s Guide To Infinity, is my attempt to capture all these endless sources of inspiration & the inexplicable 'randomness’ which I’ve encountered along my journey, in a series of semi-abstract hand drawn snapshots. For me, each piece & its content hint at a magic infinitely larger than words or thoughts can encompass

But anyway, hope you vibe with this ever expanding series, & hit me up if you wanna own your personal slice of Infinity

Accra Trane Station from VoxLox on Vimeo.

This film distills three years of video conversations with Nii Noi Nortey, the Ghanaian sculptor, instrument inventor, and avant-garde instrumentalist. Nortey discusses the African legacy of John Coltrane, and how it inspired invention of his “afrifone” instruments, and a series of twenty Accra Trane Station sculptures and four CD recordings. The recordings and film also feature his longtime percussionist Nii Otoo Annan, “the Elvin Jones of West Africa.” Included are scenes of Nortey creating sculptures live at two Accra art exhibits, and performing with Accra Trane Station in recording studios and in concert in Ghana and the USA.
